On Wednesday, the White House released a transcript of the call that President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky held in July, the focus of the accusations of the Democratic opposition that announced the start of a formal investigation for a possible political trial.

Donald Trump: Congratulations on your great victory. We've all seen you from the United States and you did a great job. You came from behind, someone who was not given much importance and ended up winning easily. It is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations.

Zelensky: You are absolutely right, Mr. President. We have won big and we have worked hard to achieve it. We work hard, but I would like to confess that I had the opportunity to learn from you. We were in a unique situation where we were able to achieve a unique success. Zelensky: Well, yes, in fact we are trying to work hard because we wanted to drain the swamp here in our country. We brought a lot of new people. Not the old politicians, not the typical politicians, because we want a new format and a new type of government. You are a great teacher to us in that.

Trump: Well, it's very nice of you to say that. We have done a lot for Ukraine. We made a great effort for a long time. Much more than what European countries did, they should be helping you more than they do. Germany does almost nothing for you. All they do is talk and I think it's something you should ask them about. When I was talking to Angela Merkel ... she talks about Ukraine but does nothing. Many of the European countries are the same. I think it's something you should check, but the United States has been very, very good with Ukraine. I would not say that it is necessarily reciprocal because things are happening that are not, but the United States has been very, very, very good.

Zelensky: Yes, you are absolutely right. Not only 100%, actually 1000%. But I can tell you the following: I spoke with Angela Merkel and met her. I also met and talked with Macron ... and told them that they are not doing as much as they have to be doing in the matters of sanctions. They are not applying the sanctions. They are not working as much as they should work with Ukraine. It turns out that, although logically the European Union should be our biggest partner, but technically, the United States is today a bigger partner than the European Union and I am very grateful for that, because the United States is doing a lot for Ukraine. Much more than the European Union, especially with regard to sanctions against the Russian Federation. I also want to thank you for your great support in the area of defense. We are willing to continue cooperating in the next steps. Specifically we are almost ready to buy more javelins (missiles) from the United States for defense purposes.

Trump: I would like you to do us a favor because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened to this whole situation in Ukraine, talk about Crowdstrike .... I think you have valuable people ... There are many things that happened, the whole situation ... I think you are surrounding yourself with some of The same people. I would like the Attorney General to call you or your people and I would like you to get to the bottom of the matter. We are ready to open a new page on cooperation in relations between the United States and Ukraine. Since we have obtained the absolute majority in our Parliament, the next attorney general will be 100% mine, my candidate, who will be approved by parliament and will start as a new prosecutor in September. He or she will study the situation, specifically the company you mentioned. The question of the investigation of the case is really the question of ensuring restoration of transparency, so we will take care of it and work on the investigation of the case.
